“PLAY on!”
“PLAY on, Momma!” my daughter said as she flipped on the light and surprised me with this lightswitch cover creation. I was awestruck by how she captured the energy of PLAY (Passion, Love, Authenticity, You) coupled with the clever flip of the “on” switch.
“PLAY on!” I say to myself now whenever I turn the light on. Energy radiates.
How would you describe your energy in this moment? How about when you’re feeling “on” versus when you’re stressed?
PLAY seeks to understand how we energetically show up in different areas of our life. We become curious about why our energy may shift in different environments and situations.
As an iPEC-trained coach, I explore two kinds of energy with clients - catabolic energy and anabolic energy. These energies, and the levels within them, serve different outcomes. They connect to who we believe we are and are influenced by our interpretations and interactions with the present moment.
Catabolic energy is often sourced from stress, and although it’s necessary in certain situations, it can be depleting and destructive. We may be fearful, worrying, cautious, apathetic, angry, resentful, or stubborn when experiencing this energy. We may believe our options are limited and feel stuck. We may toss blame at others or a system for our situation and avoid looking for answers within.
Anabolic energy is building and resourcing. This energy fuels creativity and progress. We may experience confidence, optimism, curiosity, non-judgment, eagerness to try something new, clarity, and compassion in anabolic energy. This constructive energy resources us to accomplish goals, embrace change as a catalyst for growth, and find ease in life transitions.
PLAY explores these energy levels and the internal and external factors that serve or block our potential. This greater awareness leads to the ability to choose the energy that supports us in any given moment. We will experience greater opportunities, connection, and fulfillment when we choose to create and experience more anabolic energy. When we “PLAY on,” we leverage the energy we desire to build the life we choose.
